Compensation: $22.00 to $26.00 per hour, dependent on experience

Overview

The Transportation Dispatcher organizes and oversees daily driver assignments and delivery activities to guarantee the efficient, safe, and punctual distribution of food items. This role serves as the primary communication hub connecting drivers, warehouse personnel, logistics, and sales departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Allocate drivers to specific delivery routes, pickups, and backhaul assignments.
• Develop and refine daily and weekly driver schedules, adjusting routes in real time for delays or shifting demands.
• Act as the principal contact for drivers and coordinate with warehouse, operations, sales, and customer service teams.
• Oversee driver hours of service for legal and policy compliance and verify uniform/PPE standards.
• Efficiently assign tractors, trailers, and yard equipment and organize backhaul loads.
• Address delays, customer concerns, vehicle failures, or driver problems promptly.
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, dispatch activities, delivery reports, and performance metrics.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One to three years in transportation, logistics, or dispatch roles.
• Familiarity with Department of Transportation regulations and driver hours-of-service rules is strongly preferred.
• Background in food distribution is advantageous.
