Overview: Hinish Design Collective, an innovative landscape design and construction studio in Hollywood, seeks a motivated individual to manage high-end projects ($75,000 to $1 million budgets). This role begins as a one-year apprenticeship working directly with the principal. First-year compensation is $5,500 per month, plus PTO and mileage. After the first year, pay increases to $7,500 per month with benefits, PTO, and bonuses.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of direct, hands-on construction experience across multiple trades (masonry, landscaping, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, steel fabrication).
  • Outstanding communication skills for liaising between principal, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • A design-oriented eye with ability to interpret 2D/3D drawings and make detail decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to exceeding expectations.
  • Strong client-focused ethic; client interests must guide all decisions.
  • Excellent time-management and forward-planning skills.
  • Ability to foresee and prevent potential errors.
  • Experience managing teams in fast-paced settings.
  • Must be on call between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM with a flexible, adaptable schedule.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites daily; valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily site visits at job locations throughout Los Angeles.
  • Facilitate communication between Principal and subcontractors.
  • Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs for bids.
  • Obtain material and labor quotes for upcoming projects.
  • Manage material orders, scheduling, and expense tracking.
  • Evaluate constructed elements and determine design details on site.
  • Maintain construction schedules and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Uphold design integrity and propose solutions that preserve design intent.
  • Establish elevations and layout/mark designs on site.
  • Make rapid decisions and adjust direction as needed.
  • Supervise teams of 10+ while managing 3–5 projects of varying scales simultaneously.
