Instructional Facilitator (Teaching Artist) - Independent Contractor

Overview

EngAGE seeks energetic Instructional Facilitators (Teaching Artists) to guide groups of vibrant older adults. This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position. We invite specialists in fitness/wellness (e.g., yoga, tai-chi, dance), arts/creativity (e.g., drawing, painting, writing), and educational topics (e.g., technology, nutrition, languages) to apply. The role offers flexible scheduling, with a commitment of 1-2 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly or biweekly instructional sessions.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit a diverse range of participants.
• Maintain communication with the on-site Program Director.

Requirements

• Must be at ease instructing active older adults.
• Must complete and pass a clear LiveScan background check (FBI/DOJ) before beginning service.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience teaching and leading groups of older adults in a classroom environment.
• Outstanding communication and organizational abilities.
• A genuine enthusiasm for health, wellness, and/or creative pursuits.

Logistics & Support

• Time Commitment: One hour per week or two hours every other week. Schedule is flexible.
• Hours: Adaptable, morning through evening, Monday-Friday. Weekends upon request.
• Location: The Mirador Senior Apartments, 2439 N Lincoln Ave, Altadena, CA, 91001.
• Training: A guided tour of the community facilities will be provided.
• Support: Instructors receive support from EngAGE personnel and the on-site management team.
