Responsibilities

  • Direct daily fabric cutting activities, allocating tasks based on production schedules.
  • Review work orders, shop drawings, and fabric guidelines to ensure cutting accuracy.
  • Precisely calculate yardage needs, accounting for pattern repeats and material direction.
  • Arrange and cut fabrics to optimize material usage and ensure exact pattern matching.
  • Inspect all fabric for defects before cutting and report any issues.
  • Train and supervise team members in proper cutting techniques and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with upholstery, sewing, and cushion teams to confirm material readiness.
  • Maintain cutting instruments and workspaces for precision, productivity, and safety.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate fabric inventory records.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years in fabric cutting, preferably in high-end or custom furniture manufacturing; 8-10+ years highly desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of upholstery fabrics, including woven textiles, velvet, and leather.
  • Proven skill in pattern placement and yardage computation for complex projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to accurately read work orders, shop drawings, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in safe operation of cutting equipment (e.g., straight knives, rotary cutters).
  • Demonstrated leadership and team training abilities.
  • Punctual, dependable, and maintains a tidy, orderly workspace.
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a significant advantage.
