Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced professional and technical support for financial management, auditing, and accounting initiatives.
  • Review the work of accounting specialists, offering feedback on processes and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of financial objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Spearhead the creation and oversight of annual budgets for all agency programs and affiliates.
  • Conduct intricate financial assessments, including revenue, expenditure, variance, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare periodic financial reports.
  • Orchestrate annual audit processes and ensure timely financial reporting for audits and HUD submissions.
  • Manage the agency's debt portfolio, including bonds, notes, and loans.
  • Investigate and apply new accounting standards and regulatory trends to maintain compliance.
  • Champion automation and data integration projects to modernize reporting capabilities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. CPA or MBA is advantageous.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in governmental or fund accounting.
  • At least three years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Understanding of public or governmental fund accounting principles and audit processes.
  • Awareness of affordable housing financing, laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP platforms (such as Yardi Voyager).
  • Superior analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
